How often and how long will I be in therapy?
Every individual is different, is the short answer!
To get the most benefit of therapy, it is ideal to start more frequently, weekly or bi-weekly, and then frequency is reduced as skills build.
The total length of time or number of sessions can vary. When we have completed our good work together, you will be provided with resources and a transition plan. This will ensure you are supported beyond the intensive support of individual therapy.
Who can benefit from therapy?
ANYONE who wants to improve their wellbeing but feels stuck or doesn't know what is holding them back. Let's chat!
Do I need my parent's permission if I am under 18?
It is a requirement for minors to have permission from a parent/guardian to participate in therapy.
What is your opinion on medication?
Medication is a personal choice. A psychologist is not able to prescribe medication but your doctor or psychiatrist can. Some individuals may find relief from certain concerns and challenges through the support of medication. Therapists can work with you regardless of your choice.
What if we are not a fit?
Therapists are not a one-size-fits-all. If you are uncomfortable with your therapist and feel their methodology is not a fit, let them know. It isn't personal and they will want to help you find someone who is the best-fit. Don't worry, we won't make it weird!
